COIN HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ships individually in protective packaging
  • Consisting of 1.85 oz of 9995 Fine Platinum
  • Obverse: Features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
  • Reverse: Features various depictions of the Polar Bear

The largest bear in the world and the Arctic's top predator, polar bears are a powerful symbol of the strength and endurance of the Arctic. In the Arctic, temperatures can plunge to -40° or -46 C (-50 F) in winter, but Polar bears have two layers of fur that prevent almost all heat loss. Often, they even overheat while running.

Polar Bear fur isn't actually white. Each hair shaft is pigment-free and transparent, with a hollow core that scatters and reflects visible light.

ABOUT THE ROYAL CANADIAN MINT

The Ottawa Branch of the Royal Mint opened in 1908 and was renamed The Royal Canadian Mint in 1931 when control was transferred to the Canadian government. The Royal Canadian Mint is renowned for producing some of the highest quality and purity of gold and silver bullion coins and bars in the world. Their high standards for excellence and quality allowed them to be the first refinery to manufacture 9999 fine gold bullion coins in 1982, as well as the first to reach 99999 fine gold purity in 1998.
