











This coin is the fifth release in the Australian Opal series which showcases nocturnal Australian animals in pure Australian opal.
The Tasmanian Devil is a nocturnal marsupial found only on the island of Tasmania.
It is recognizable for its squat build, black colouring, loud screeches and infamous bad temper.
Although it is only the size of a small dog, it can be incredibly fierce. It is currently listed as endangered.
This series will features eight coins in total with 2 designs released each year.
The obverse features the Ian-Rank Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II Australia 1 Dollar" and the artist's initials. It also features radial lines or beams that terminate with semi-circles.
The reverse features a unique design by Alesha Howarth with a centre piece of pure Australian opal that portrays a detailed design of a Tasmanian Devil and a soft tree fern.
The outer panel depicts native soft tree ferns, a full moon and the Southern Cross - a star grouping visible only in the southern hemisphere. Along the outer edge are the words "Tasmanian Devil 2014 1 oz 999 Silver" and the traditional Perth "P" mint mark.
Each coin features a serialized certificate of authenticity.
