SNAKE DESIGN
The coin’s reverse incorporates a circular panel featuring a curled snake detailed in pure Australian opal. Struck elements include intricate patterning with stylised depictions of jasmine, a plant said to attract snakes. The design also includes the inscription ‘YEAR OF THE SNAKE and the Chinese character for ‘snake’ together with the 2025 year-date, the coin’s weight and purity, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970.
